Dear junior, here is a note that l wish someone told me before joining. Please take your freshman yr seriously every grade you make there counts. You can drag it up later on but the class you take will be as much if not more challenging than what you expect. The courses aren't hard but the teachers makes it so try to know more about your instructor beforehand. Have Discipline plssss, start now it wouldn't get any better, now is the time truly. Make your focus of course with credit hour, the less the credit hour it has the less it will affect your GPA at all. Your grade is what define you in a country like ours(unfortunately) so try as hard as you can to maintain it. Have connections with senior batch, exams are 60% likely to be repeated so you can have general info. Try going to anything your campus organize and get some friends, start networking....it's literally the most important thing you can do for yourself. Try to do side hustle if you can with friends there as selling products, making bouquet of flowers, anything start hustling there...the money you get from it will give you freedom financially. That's all l think, good luck and may the odds be in your favor.

Dear coming batch, let me tell you this: if you enjoy going out most of the time, partying, and spending time with friends, then Dire is where you belong. You can still do well if you're genuinely committed to studying, but overall, it's a place where many people aren't very serious about academics. Most of the students here don't take their studies seriously. Besides that, Dire is just as people say it really is a city of love.

HU is good, it's very competitive. Your entrance exam is 30% and gpa is 70% of total average. if you want to go to HU firstly, you should have good entrance result and then you should be good reader.

Here Is what I wished I knew, but had never guessed or known is that, thinking University academic journey as the simplest and fun part of my life. What I mean is that, After extending many effort for my preparation to the national University enterance exam, which took so much effort that I promised to quiet making such exhausting brain wash ever, and I also actually thought there couldn't be anything else beside the enterance exam that will force me to study that much anymore. Due to this, when I first got into university there is this unworthy belief that I brought with me packaging from my society, family and some friend advises, and that belief was " freshman courses are nothing but something you already experienced in the highschool, just revision, not big deal", this belief made me to lighten my effort in studying hard, instead of studying not less than the last time, as for entrance, and this unworthy and toxic belief affected my GPA so bad , making things difficult for me to choose my preference department. In a nutshell , what I want you to know is that, things that are waiting for you in university are very big deal, make sure to give crucial attention for that, most importantly the freshman year. And one last thing that I suggest is make sure to research the difficulty level of the university academics you will choose and university with your preference department and department that won't be thrown into risk according to your enterance result. Go with your passions. Don't hesitate to choose whatever you want. Otherwise you will regret for your life time. Tell your parents convince them and go with your passions. Now, I'm social science student it wasn't that easy to convince my familys but I did cause I thought that is best for me.

Hi! As a 2024/2025 batch student at Arba Minch University, I'm still relatively new, but based on my first year experience, there are a few things I wish I had known before joining university. The biggest thing is that the university education system is very different from high school. In high school, subjects are usually taught over a longer period, but in university many courses are completed within a single semester. Because of this, the pace is much faster and you need to invest much more time in studying and self-learning. During the first 2–3 weeks, you may not feel the difference, but later you'll realize how important time management and consistent study habits are. Another thing is choosing your department. Before entering university, make sure the university actually offers the department you want. If the department is highly competitive and many students want it, be prepared to work hard and maintain a strong GPA. If possible, use your summer break to familiarize yourself with freshman courses so the transition becomes easier. I also recommend learning about the weather and living conditions of the university's city before arriving. For example, as an Arba Minch student, I can say that the weather is usually quite hot, so light and comfortable clothing is helpful. Finally, consider the overall environment and peace of the city. One thing I really appreciate about Arba Minch is that it is a peaceful city, and students come here from many different parts of Ethiopia. That peaceful atmosphere can make university life much more enjoyable. These are some of the things I wish I had known before entering university. I hope they help future students prepare for the journey ahead!

Dear incoming batch, You don't need to worry too much. All you have to do is identify your hobbies, list them in order, and take a step forward. Make sure to gather information about universities that are specifically related to your field of interest. Once you get to university, invest all your energy in your studies and avoid negative influences from bad friends and making relationships with opposite sex. Best of luck!
